Catch-up :: Knoxville Family Photographer

Happy Labor Day, friends!  I’m sitting here in pure silence except for the rain pounding against the windows, and it is awesome!  Actually, this weekend has been pretty awesome and fantastic!!!  Saturday morning was filled with work and a sweet family session for a friend of mine – her daughter has just turned 1.  You may remember Miss Gabi from this post (well, she was in her momma’s belly) and this post.  Then there was this post.  I just adore Gabi!!!  At any rate, you know that I was super stoked to get to do a 1 year session with her and her mommy and daddy.:)

Then the day continued on for the first football game of the season – Go Vols!!!  AND we won!!!  Move on to Sunday Funday as we call it (my favorite day of the week), and an awesome date night that we weren’t counting on to Bonefish Grill (one of my favorite restaurants!!!).  Needless to say, we have been busy having fun.:) The best part is that it gets to continue on today. Love it!!!

Yes, I know this blog post is all over the place – I apologize, but if you were wondering what was going on in the Brown House this is it.  And since you stopped by for a visit, here is a sneak of the Parrilla’s Family Session::

PS  If you were wondering about the Fall Semester Basic Photography Class, I only have one spot left and classes start this Sunday.  If you would like to register, send me an email at jennifer@jennbrownphoto.com or for more information check out the blog post about it.

Question About Fall Semester :: Knoxville Photographer

I received a wonderful question by email yesterday, and thought  I would share it in case someone else may have the same question.  :)

Lisa writes::

“I really would love to learn to use my camera.  It is an older model, but still a very good camera and I am tired of paying for photography when I do have such a nice camera.  It is a Nikon D70.  I know nothing about it so do you think this class will help?  I also would love to learn lighting and such.  Thank you so much for responding.”

Great question about Fall Semester (and if you don’t mind I’m going to post it on the blog but not with your full name)!  Normally I do my workshops in one day. By the end of the 6-7 hours everyone is exhausted mentally and physically, so a lot of times the attendees can’t think of questions to help them understand and/or don’t get right back out there practicing and in turn forget some of the important stuff we talked about.  The great thing about Fall Semester is we have 5 weeks of learning, practicing, and more learning.  I know it sounds redundant, but I promise it is going to be the best way to learn about your camera.  So we’ll start class with questions from the previous week and/or share photos we’ve taken.  Then we’ll go over the current week’s topic learning about that part of your camera and how it connects with the previous week.  At the end of the class you’ll have a new assignment to work on for the next week which will reinforce what you’ve been learning and ultimately making you a better photographer.
As for lighting, we’ll go over natural lighting, reflectors, and on camera lighting.  It won’t be really in depth, but more of an understanding of how you can work in those situations.
Let me know if you have any other questions or would like to register!
